New Prisoner Mini Series Announced and SG-1 DVD
From several different mailing lists it is being announced that a new Prisoners mini series slated for 2009 has been announced. Forgive my excitement inasmuch as I watched the oriuginal series as it was originally broadcast and loved it and seen it since on DVD and unlike some others this one held up well. Hollywood Reporter describes it as following: "The Prisoner -- a six-hour mini, which AMC is co-producing with ITV Prods. and Granada International -- is slated to premiere in 2009.Caviezel will play the title role of Number Six, a part originally made famous by the project's creator Patrick McGoohan. Two-time Oscar nominee Ian McKellen will co-star as Number Two.Jim Caviezel and Ian McKellen bring an incredible level of talent to the project, and we're honored they are taking on these important roles, said Charlie Collier, AMC's general manager and executive vice president." And on a similar media related subject if there are SG-1 fans out there, if you were not aware MGM has been releasing some stand alone extensions of the regular series on DVD. A previous one (Stargate - Ark of Truth which tied up a main storyline in the series) came out earlier this year, but a new one called Stargate Continuum is slated for July 29th. The MGM email described it as follows: "An elite military unit (SG-1) must flee back to Earth when two members of their team vanish in thin air. But they return to a world in which the Stargate was never discovered, and their own history is nonexistent. How will they convince a dubious government and military that Earth's timeline was altered by a powerful Alien enemy (Ba'al) in order to conquer Earth?" I already have my order in on Amazon. Check out the MGM stargate web site for more info and a trailer or click on the picture to get your own copy from Amazon. Don S Davis Dies On a somewhat sadder note Don Sinclair Davis, a B.C. actor best known for his recurring role on the TV show Stargate SG-1 as General Hammond, died of a heart attack at his home in Gibsons. He was 65. You can learn more about his career on his IMBDB page. Hidden Frontier is another offshoot of the original Star Trek series placed after the Dominion War of Deep Space: Nine. Among other episodes of interest, catch the Helena Chronicles among a wealth of others.
